Museums are free between 17-19
Altogether 145 museums and 73 art museums will open free of charge from May 17 to 19, as part of the events in celebration of the opening of the 2025 Shanghai Cultural Heritage Festival.
According to the municipal administration of culture and tourism, the 2025 Shanghai Culture Heritage festival will center around the International Museum Day on May 18 and China's Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, which is the second Saturday in every June since 2006.
Among the heavy-weight exhibitions opening for free are the ancient Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Gallery at Shanghai Museum East, the Zhou Bichu Art Exhibition at the SPSI Art Museum and an exhibition of young artists from the Yangtze River Delta at Haipai Art Museum in suburban Shanghai's Qibao area.
