Linde-Xiamen Forklift Truck Co Ltd, the largest forklift manufacturer in China, will set up a research centre in China to develop new technology and introduce new products into China from Europe.

Linde Group is a well-known enterprise headquartered in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Established 10 years ago, the Linde-Xiamen Forklift Truck Co Ltd has earned US$450 million in foreign exchange with a total export of 3,500 trucks, said a representative of the board of directors of Linde-Xiamen.

The company has equipped with advanced production lines and its products are equivalent to those produced in Europe in terms of quality.

Linde-Xiamen has continuously made profits in the last two years to cover the deficits created in the first eight years' of operation.

"It is the best birthday gift to Linde-Xiamen," he said last weekend.

Its annual sales have soared to 4,000 trucks in 2002 from the initial 100 odd.

Its market share in China is expected to increase an average of 30 per cent annually in the coming four or five years.

Linde-Xiamen produced 22,000 trucks in the past 10 years. The company expects that its annual output will reach that number in the near future.
