Prof. Yu Changxing, chairman of the current seven-day Congress session, said reasonably exploiting mineral resources, balancing between exploitation and environmental protection, and ensure safety production in mines are critical challenges the whole human society is facing.

ISM experts and technical specialists have produced many key breakthroughs and achievements in the above regards and would like to share their understanding with Chinese peers, said Yu.

ISM is affiliated to UNESCO and it is the first time the Congress holds a session in Asia and China since its founding in 1969.
