What is REMARKABLE is the SPIRIT of the CHINESE nation.
From the top leadership where president hu jintao despite being in the middle of an aftershock encourages the rescuers to continue to try to safe lives.
To premier Wen Jiabao, who slipped and fell and refused medical treatment, and from the very beginning directed the rescue effort from the ground. Comforting people from the young orphaned children to older people scared by the massive earthquake and aftershocks.
To the rescuers and volunteers who continue to amaze me.
And the overseas Chinese who feel helpless thousands of kilometers away, but organize to send aid in the form of cash donations to help heir beloved ancestral homeland.
To China Central Television (CCTV) and the CHINESE news websites that provide me with up to date news about what's happening in the quake hit regions. Those reporters are fantastic! That's the kind of news reporting I want and the journalism I give VALUE to.
My heart is filled with sorrow for the so many dead and for their relatives.
But I refuse to see the negative that some western media want to create. Therefore I REFUSE to watch or read western media because those have lost ALL credibility in my book. FOREVER.
I am encouraged by the CHINESE leadership at ALL levels because they have a CAN do attitude for the people.

中華民族的精神值得贊嘆！
國家主席胡錦濤，冒著余震的危險，親自趕赴災區，鼓勵救援人員繼續努力搶救生命。
總理溫家寶，在第一時間趕到災區，指揮施救工作，安慰失去雙親的孩子，慰問受到地震和余震驚嚇的老人。而自己跌倒受傷，卻不接受治療。
所有參與救援行動的人員和志愿者，我都表示最崇高的敬意。
還有海外的中國留學生，雖身處千里之外，也組織了捐款幫助他們深愛的祖國。
中央電視臺和中國新聞網站提供的地震新聞非常棒,那些報道正是我所需要的，而且是十分有新聞價值的。
對于那些在此次地震中失去生命的人及其家屬，我表示最沉痛的哀悼。

Like most Americans I feel great sorrow for the families who have lost loved ones in the Sichuan earthquake. The deaths of so many children is tragic.
China is lucky to have leaders like Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao. For the work they have done all around the world they both deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
These men are great leaders and China is lucky to have men like them as leaders.

Premier Wen is truly a model politician for the world to follow. He is compassionate, selfless, caring and humble in all that he does. A Premier China can be very proud of. The other one is President hu, also of similar calibre. China is very blessed with these two men in charge.

I am a foreigner who lived in Shanghai in 2006 & 2007 and used the free days to visit many cities in China and visited Chongqing. Chendu is not far away from Chongqing. It is tragedy for all of us. I saw many photos from the earthquake areas which are shocking and painful. Within minutes so many people died, so many people lost their dear ones and so many became orphans. Chen Jia’s story gave me a more vivid picture and a first hand information. I like China very much and I felt as if I lost many of my friends.
May God give them courage and hope to overcome the tragedy.
我感到如同自己也失去親人一般
2006和2007年，我住在上海，閑暇之余去過中國的其它一些城市，其中包括重慶。成都離重慶并不遠。此次地震對于所有的人，都是一個悲劇。看了許多拍自地震現場的照片，我感到十分震驚，也很難過。就短短的幾分鐘時間，那么多的生命就消失了，那么多的人就失去了親人，那么多的小孩就成了孤兒。陳佳的故事為我提供了第一手資料。我非常熱愛中國，我現在的感受如同自己也失去親人一般。

I would like to commend Premier Wen for his devoted compassion to the victims of the EARTHQUAKE. It is not very often that you see a Govt. Leader display this kind of compassion towards its citizens. Premier Wen has set an example for all World Leaders to follow in future disasters. As a Westerner living in China now for over 6 years it goes without saying that this disaster has shown the World that China and its people are compassionate towards one another. Not so long ago in the same region as the earthquake there were riots which the World witnessed, but when a humanity situation such as this earthquake happens everyone binds together and forgets the past ill feelings, this is something that the Western World will never understand, until they understand the culture of the Chinese People. Once again I as an ''outsider'' fully acknowledge that Premier Wen has led this disaster from the front line and every Chinese citizen no matter where they are in the World should be proud that such a man exists within their own heritage. To Premier Wen you have shown that China is a Nation that is not divided.
每個中國人都應該為溫總理自豪

I have been to China twice and loved it!!
We are going again in the fall, and I cry every night as I read the stories and see the pictures from each day's search for survivors.
China is the sweetest place on the planet. We have adopted two girls from hunan and our son is waiting for us in Zhejiang. I see their beautiful faces in every child in every quake news story and it just breaks my heart. To think of the families that have been ripped apart, it is just too horrible.
I wish that U.S. news would cover the quake as good as the China Daily News. I don't think the real scope of the earthquake is really being felt in the States. But most people here have never been to China, so how would they know what they are seeing anyway. You have to have been to China to really understand how big this disaster really was.
I wish all of the people in China peace and healing.

Every country tries to do their best to help when nature throws a cruel blow. The U.S is not perfect; the example is the hurricane that hit New Orleans.
All we need to remember is when the worst happens, reach into your soul and think " what would I need help with if that was me" let that be your guide in helping one another.
We are all touched deeply when we see a miracle happen and people are reunited. There is always hope, and I was glad to see young students giving blood and raising money for victims. That is the how things get done.
